I've got to get this out now, while the memory is at its freshest. I really do wish I had a better memory--I'm terrified that this will dwindle to a vague happy haze all too soon.

Sorry it took me a day more than I promised--this turned out to be way longer than I'd expected, and our family's wifi turned out to be way more touchy than I'd expected. (JFYI, I took a few pictures and a couple snippets of video, but it wasn't much. Mostly, I just have my thoughts and videos from other people on YouTube.)

Here we go . . . )

Hello, all! Last few days have been a whirlwind of busy-ness and fatigue. (I say busy-ness instead of business, because there was nothing business-y about it. Yes, I'm feeling like butchering my native--and only--language today.) Fun, but not fun, because I've been separated from my preciousssss, the internet and the people on it. :D

But now I must fangirl over the premiere of Supernatural Season 8. This is special to me in so many ways, because for the first time, I'm caught up on a TV series just as it's actually, factually happening. That is an awesome feeling, minus the suspense rendered by commercials and waiting an entire week for the next episode. I'm used to blazing through 2 to 4 episodes a day.

Without dropping too many spoilers, let's just say I really enjoyed the episode, but felt it just a tad off. Like they had to amble through a set-up of the premise that really felt like nothing had happened, and the good stuff was still to come. Best part of the episode was, by far, our boys being reunited for the bajillionth time. That will never, ever get old.

And neither will this GIF. :D

Sorry that I've kinda been missing in action. Last few days have not been conductive to spending time on the internet, what with a friend needing back-to-back sleepovers while she's alone in a new house with her parents out of town, and what with me, Mom, and two of my brothers watching 9 or 10 Supernatural Season 7 episodes in two days. (Our DVD FINALLY CAME, PRECIOUSSSS.) Speaking of precious, anybody seen the latest Hobbit trailer? I dare anybody to watch it without being divided by squees and tears. :D

I'll close with a GIF, because I fee like it.

. . . that you walk across your dark bedroom to turn off your CD player, only to see a silhouette of a spider on the INSIDE of the LED screen?

Well, odds or no odds, I just did. Usually, I would find that cool instead of creepy--but in this instance, this spider naturally just HAD to look like a tiny brown recluse. (And if baby spiders are anything like baby snakes when it comes to not knowing when to stop spewing venom . . . yikes.)

My poor CD player is going to have to spend the night outside. Hopefully, nothing else will crawl inside after the spider decides to leave.

And the images of brown recluses (sprinkled with horrifically unattended brown recluse bites) that I looked at are certainly not helping me feel like going to sleep.

Me: *listening to Jojoushi while doing all the cleaning* Man, I love this song.
Little Sister: Because it's dreamy?
Me: YES.

I'm going to have a busy work schedule this week, because the lady who usually works in jewelry will be on vacation. So I'm basically going to be in jewelry all week long, more or less. Do not want.

It's not that I hate working in jewelry--I hate being tempted to buy all sorts of beautiful crap while working in jewelry. Hello, girl, you can't spend your paycheck before you even get it. We're supposed to be saving. (Am I the only one that lectures myself in multiple persons? Please tell me I'm not.)
gothrockrulz: (zomg!)
Night owl that I am, I haven't been up this early in ages. I dropped my brother off for a road trip at 5:15, and now I can't fall back to sleep. (Love it when that happens!) Am I the only one thinking that a small group of college boys road tripping in a minivan is funny? Tell me I'm not!

As for more real life stuff, not much is going on. (I kinda like it that way. Leaves more time for reading and writing.)

Happy Father's Day, everyone! Enjoy a day of chilling in front of the TV. :)

My brother and I pooled our money into getting a semi-expensive camera. (Bro describes it as high-end personal, low-end pro.) All of us kids want a nice camera to develop our skills before we go into the really expensive stuff, so we're getting one to share. That way I can take pictures for sketching and for fun; one brother can spam Instagram, or whatever it's called, with pro wannabe photos; and the another brother can create his own HQ textures for his 3D graphics. (I have three brothers. None of them are named Darrell.)

Now we're going crazy waiting for it to ship. We can't wait to start taking pictures of everything we see!

More rambling . . . )

I actually got a working moodtheme up! Yay! (So glad someone gave me a tip to help me in the right direction.)

My cousin's baby came last week (or was it the week before?), and today we got to see Junior for the first time.

More family and personal life rambling . . . )

I just got "The Classical Conspiracy" CD a couple weeks ago. Before that, my little sister liked to fall asleep listening to Enya every night. Now, when either Mom or I tuck her in, she wants me to start the Spiderman Medley playing. And she likes to play it while she's awake, too. I never thought I could possibly have too much Epica, but what with my sister playing this one track over and over 24/7, I'm starting to wonder if I was wrong. LOL.

Oh, well. At least I'm helping her develop good taste, right? :D

Just heard that my brother hit a home run during a double-header baseball game today--against the team that had rejected him. I'm a very proud big sister right now, yes.

gothrockrulz: (hotch awesome)
Blegh. Where is the year going? I feel as if I haven't gotten anything done yet--especially as I'm watching a ton of people struggling to stay afloat during finals, my BFF and brother included. Kinda makes me feel guilty that I've got it easy by comparison--but, hey, working part-time and writing the rest of the time, instead of going to college, was my choice. I'll keep at it, and see if my hunch that I can pursue a writing career my own way will turn out right. (Of course, keeping that "writing the rest of the time" literal and fresh in my mind would help. I tend to get distracted too easily.)

Speaking of distractions, perhaps I should pretend the internet is down for a while. That might help. I saw an icon somewhere that read something like this: "The key to being a successful writer is keeping off the internet." True, that.

But, before I go, I've got to post this video. It's an ad-lib moment from the filming of season 4 of Supernatural. THIS is the best example of why I'm hopelessly addicted to this show. Jensen Ackles is one of the most awesome dorks on the planet, and I will never be able to hear "Eye of the Tiger" again without giggling.

gothrockrulz: (zomg!)
Well, at least, I'm doing the latter part. Not quite so good at the keeping calm part. The heat is really getting to me; I nearly snapped at a customer at the bowling alley today.

Insert cut here . . . )

For some reason, I'm in the mood to re-watch that old Winnie-the-Pooh TV show from the late 80's/early 90's. It was one of my favorite shows growing up, and it's still up there with my favorites.

Speaking of favorite TV shows, I'm officially addicted to Supernatural. I've blazed through the first two seasons, and I'm already gearing up for the third, once it's ready at the library. Be forewarned: there will be a slew of Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki icons in future.

More rambling under the cut . . . )

I just saw the midnight premiere of The Hunger Games with my real life best friend forever.

I don't think I'll get any sleep tonight; I'm way too wired!

I love playing dress-up. (Obvious statement is obvious.) I've seen a lot of fabulous cosplays for specific characters or people (all my Gackt-obssessed friends are probably thinking with envy of Ghostkiller right now), and now I want to do it, too! For a while, I'd been thinking about buying a Genesis Rhapsodos costume, complete with wig and sword. Finally, I decided to go for it, and started searching the internet.

How do you spell frustration again? I've got the weirdest feeling it's supposed to be a four-letter word. )

Apparently, yesterday was International Women's Day? Meh. Why celebrate half of the population of the world for only one day? Personally, I think every day is International Women's Day, because we rule. :)

I've been getting a little more free time lately, so I've been putting it to use researching ancient cultures, partly for fun, partly for historical content to play with in the backstory of my current WIP. Thanks to some excellent books on Caesar, Cleopatra, and ancient Gauls and other Celtic cultures, I think I know which direction I want to steer things. Now the burden is on me to keep the plot flowing, and not bog down the entire story with fangirling about ancient cultures. That's . . . going to be tough.

Also, I need to re-watch the version of Cleopatra starring Elizabeth Taylor again. Or maybe not. Every time I read the name "Antony", in my head I always hear, "I like almost all Greek things," followed by, "As an almost-all Greek thing, I'm flattered."

In closing, I've started work on my elven cloak for wearing to the midnight premier of The Hobbit later this year. (Why is it still nine months, preciousss?!) I've been wrestling with stuff for a while, and all I've got to show for it is some pretty chalk markings to give me a hint I should probably start cutting the fabric. Guess I should go . . .
gothrockrulz: (zomg!)
Recently, I've been keeping myself on a strict spending limit in order to save for the future. I've been really good the last couple months . . . and today my self-control crumbled.

Here's what started it all:

I was innocently minding my own business at work today, serving my time at the jewelry counter as back-up, since we're anticipating brisk Valentine's day business, and then WHAM! Love at first sight. Violent love, I should say. (If you think you can't possibly be violently in love with a piece of jewelry, I TELL YOU, YOU CAN!)

Next thing I knew, I was putting it on hold for safekeeping . . . and then spider earrings to match it found their way in there . . . and then something else I'd had my eye on . . . and something else . . . and something else . . .

And it didn't end there. What did I do when I got home? Why, naturally, I hopped on to Amazon and ordered two Evanescence albums and a L'arc en Ciel album to boot. We must be thorough, yes, precious.

And now, we must limit our expenses to gas only, yes . . . (Just so you all know, I tend to revert to Gollum-talk with myself without even realizing it.) :D

[Error: unknown template qotd]

Getting hurt and going to the hospital.

I was three years old. My Mom kept a sun oven out by the back porch of our house, and my little brother and I were playing with it--by jumping on the glass door on top. I'd jump on and off, then he would jump on and off, and we'd rotate back and forth.

Not hard to figure out where this is going . . . )

Yesterday was movies, movies, and more movies for me. Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children Complete on Blu-Ray (every time I watch this, I'm reminded just how helpless I am against the combination of pretty hair and sword-fighting) and Phantom of the Opera 2005, followed by Fellowship of the Ring and Hellboy II (also featuring pretty hair and sword-fighting). But me and my family paused HII at midnight to cover each other in silly string, before going back for another round of "Can't Smile Without You". XD

I'll spam you all with videos, just for fun.

Cut for video clips . . . )
