What's Up? Piglet Is Up.

For some reason, I'm in the mood to re-watch that old Winnie-the-Pooh TV show from the late 80's/early 90's. It was one of my favorite shows growing up, and it's still up there with my favorites.
Speaking of favorite TV shows, I'm officially addicted to Supernatural. I've blazed through the first two seasons, and I'm already gearing up for the third, once it's ready at the library. Be forewarned: there will be a slew of Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki icons in future.
Speaking of icons, I've been meaning to make icons of an Alexander movie with Colin Farrell and Angelina Jolie, but getting of a copy of the DVD to watch/screencap has proven tricky. Finally, I caved in and bought the DVD on Amazon. I love Amazon. The only drawback to that site is the wait for stuff to arrive already. Can someone invent teleportation in the near future? Not only do I want instant shipping, but I want to be able to travel the world without the traveling part. I hate that part.
Speaking of things I hate, am I the only one whose eyes are practically bleeding because of all the neon colors that are in fashion now? The stuff's even infiltrating J-rock PVs. (Case in point: Acid Black Cherry's newest number.) I feel like wearing nothing but black for the rest of the spring/summer season.
Speaking of spring and summer, how is the weather in your neck of the woods? In my town, we're already dealing with record-breaking triple-digit temperatures. EVEN THOUGH IT'S ONLY APRIL. Ugh. This is going to be one long summer. Summer is the only thing that sucks about being a desert rat.
Speaking of desert rats, I've begun reading the first John Carter book, and the beginning part set in Arizona had me fangirling like I'd never stop. Edgar Rice Burrows knew what he was talking about. Sunrise really does happen lightning fast in Arizona. It's wonderful.
And now I'm done speaking.

Date: 2012-04-23 01:39 am (UTC)I hear ya! One of the reasons why, wonderful though the South is, I'm sure I'd never be able to live there, because of the humidity. I'm so glad it's dry here--if it we had triple digits AND high humidity, we'd all drop dead.
Your AC stopped working? Okay, that's really scary. You could write a gripping horror story about AC units all over America shutting down in the middle of a scorching summer. (Arg! More plotbunnies!)

Since I'm on the coast, actually--like, literally, a block away from the shoreline--we do get a nice breeze now and then, which helps. Further inland, it's like trying to breathe underwater. Or will be, when we get closer to summer.
As for plot bunnies--believe me, I have several. Not about the humidity per se, but about the swamp. (Remember last year, when the Great Dismal was burning?) Also we have a TON of local folklore with ghost, witches, and all kinds of fun things. If you've ever seen those Ghosts of Virginia books, that should give you some idea of what I'm talking about. They had like ten volumes the last I checked. And then there's the Ghost Walk that they do in the historic district every Halloween--Civil War ghosts. And in the very same neighborhood as The Other House, there's a for-reals haunted house with a poltergeist who gets uppity if they put the Christmas tree in the wrong place. (Seriously. It was in the paper.)
Actually, I sometimes wonder if growing up here may have had some impact on my fascination with the supernatural.

I'd say . . . yes. Sure sounds like it.

Date: 2012-04-23 03:24 pm (UTC)Virginians (well, those of us in the historic district anyway) are raised not to fear, but to respect our ghosts. Actual belief in ghosts varies, but most of us regard them the same way we regard snakes and wasps--don't bother them, and they won't bother you.

Date: 2012-04-23 04:37 am (UTC)AWESOME! I really can't believe how addictive the show is. (And I'm not-so-secretly amused that I've gotten almost my entire family addicted as well.)
What do you love about the show the most? For me, it's the complex relationship between Sam & Dean. One minute, they're ready to smack each other silly, the next minute, they're crying manfully while trying to sacrifice themselves for each other. D'awwwwww.

Date: 2012-04-23 04:43 am (UTC)Actually, I think it's a bit frustrating how they are always fighting, @_@ like dang, just hug it out, bros. My favorite part of the show is actually learning about all the different kind of lores and legends that goes with the supernatural world. It's pretty interesting. not to mention that i can't decide which brother is the hottest. O:

Truer words were never spoken. :D
