This little gem was made by
icondothat. It's cute and funny, and a constant reminder that I should NEVER have laughed at the prospect of The Hobbit team coming up with a way to put "hot" Dwarves on screen. Never shall I laugh at something like that again.
2.
Ah, Morticia Addams. Pretty much ever since I first saw the TV show (early teens, I think?), I added her to the list of Women I Shall Emulate When I Grow Up. She's dark, witty, elegant, and sophisticated, and if I manage to be half as awesome, I'll die content. (Made the icon myself, BTW.)
3.
Another icon I made. When I first read the scene of rising to the arena in the book, my heart raced. It raced even faster when I saw it played out on screen. The atmosphere, the feel of that scene was NAILED perfectly. I thought my heart my stop, and that's why I thought of this caption. I have a vague feeling it's in a song somewhere.
4.
Just recently made this one. I randomly thought about making icons from the first Captain America movie, and then naturally ended up using an awesome base of Peggy. Need to see the movie again. BTW, who else can't wait for The Winter Soldier? :)
5.
Yay, Darth Sidious, aka my favorite Sith Lord ever. Nobody can beat Darth Vader for pure awesome intimidation, and in the end it was Vader that did Sidious in, but I have a special admiration for just how devious Sidious is. (And I'm not just talking about his obviously evil name.) He's one of the few Sith that, even if you stripped him of his Force abilities, is still an incredibly manipulative and clever force to worry about. Also, people who like to try to Myers-Briggs type fictional characters generally class him as INTJ, and being INTJ myself, I find that fascinating. :)

But even he can't make me watch the Mortal Instruments movie.I randomly thought about making icons from the first Captain America movie, and then naturally ended up using an awesome base of Peggy.
Is that what that one's from? I still haven't seen it the whole way through. A bit too Americana for my tastes, but I really ought to give it a fair shot.

Yes. He is a Chessmaster, for sure. Sidious is awesome. (Review pending--I'll be gushing when I get to "Revenge" and again for "Jedi," I'm sure.)

Yes, I think you should. It's not exactly a good movie (basically a way to establish Chris Evans' take on the Cap so we already know him by the time Avengers rolled around), but it has its merits. Couldn't stand Evans as Johnny Storm, but I adore him as Captain America.
Also, I've been meaning to ask you if you've seen Thor, The Avengers, or Thor: The Dark World? I'm dying to know what you do or would think of Tom Hiddleston as Loki, what with your affinity for tricksters and all.

Yay! Are you going to be watching the original trilogy as it was when it first aired in theaters, or are you going to be *gulp* watching the version where Lucas meddled with stuff a lot?
(Edited for TONS of typos. Today is not my day.)

Interestingly, that's kind of what I suspected. I mean, after seeing his shield in Iron Man 2, it was like, "Oh, okay, they're hitting the multiverse now, aren't they?" Which is great, but still. I'll add to the Rent From Library list.
I have seen only Thor, and for some reason have not been able to get to either The Avengers or Dark World. I dunno why, because I remember being super-excited when I saw trailers for both them. I guess between John Carter tanking like hell, and the shooting at the Dark Knight Rises premiere, I just got a little burnt out on superhero stuff. (Yes, John Carter is a superhero. They called them "pulp" heroes back then, but same thing.)
That said! I did enjoy Loki. But not as a trickster per se. He's a very interesting character, and you gain a lot of empathy for what he had to deal with in his background and stuff, but I don't quite get "trickster" from him. Part of that is just a result of the Marvel-verse humanizing him so much--unlike the Loki of myth, or even the version in Neil Gaiman's Sandman graphic novels, who are more mischievous-for-the-hell-of-it. Marvel!Loki is more like a Chessmaster. Another very fun type of villain character, but not a trickster.
Unless something changes in the other two movies, in which case I'll be back. ;)

Christine, sometimes it's like you don't know me at all. JK--I'm doing the theatrical versions. For what I'm sure will be obvious reasons if I let myself get into a rant. It's funny though--when I was at Dad's and mentioned I wanted to watch Episode IV on his kickass home theater system, he asked me if I had the "extended" version, and I was like, "HELLLLLL NO!" The sound balance isn't as clean on the original transfers, I'm sure, but I don't care. I needs the old versions.

Hmmm, you've got a good point about Chessmaster vs. Trickster (he's definitely not like the Joker). But Loki does get tricksier and tricksier as the movies progress. Not full-out LET'S RELEASE MAYHEM JUST FOR THE HECK OF IT, but still, tricksy, yessss. The Avengers is flat-out my favorite superhero movie of all time, even if it doesn't have my favorite superhero, just because it's amazing how the story managed to skillfully juggle all those superheroes at once. And The Dark World is just a celebration of Thor and Loki's epic bromance (awesome whether you ship them romantically or platonically). Seriously, those actors have a crazy awesome chemistry.
Yeah, makes sense that John Carter would count as a superhero. He did have superpowers, even if it was only on Mars. :)
I figured the theatrical versions. Kinda annoys me that Lucas changed so much (and a lot of things that were fine the way they were).
More ranting? Sure, why not!

Date: 2014-01-15 04:13 am (UTC)Ugh. Morticia Addams was my everything growing up and for the exact reasons you mentioned. Although I'm probably more of a Wednesday Addams these days.

Date: 2014-01-15 05:33 am (UTC)Wednesday is awesome as well. (And dare I say a little easier to emulate?) Do you prefer the version of her in the TV show, or in the movies? I like both, but I gotta say, think Christina Ricci was perfect.
