This is one of the first songs I heard from this genre, and it's still pretty high up there among my favorites. Heidi Parviainen is another Finnish lady that absolutely rocks her operatic skills. It's so hard to for me to sit still and listen to this song. It makes me want to jump up and do epic things. (Usually stuff I don't know how to do, like ride off into the sunset atop a black horse while keeping a host of enemies at bay with a deadly sword. Hmmm. No wonder I write about stuff like that.) In real life, the most epic thing I do while listening to this song is unload the dishwasher or sweep the floor.

Man, what is it about Finnish metal queens? They are so amazing.

Totally slipped my mind. *rolls eyes at self* If you don't mind my asking, is it more fun or more annoying to have a mother that can tell you exactly how you're doing it wrong when you're singing along to your favorite songs?

When I was in this local children's choir, mom used to come help with rehearsals sometimes, and we had to do these terrifying things called "memory solos" every three weeks or so to make sure we were learning our music. She coached me on that once, and we both agreed that it needed to never happen again.
I did play her some Nightwish though. She was very impressed with Tarja.

My dad loves to remind me and my siblings that we have a ton of ridiculously talented musical relatives that we'll never hold a candle to. Well, actually, he never adds the "never hold a candle to" part, but us kids still feel sheepish afterwards.
I'd defy anyone to not be impressed with Tarja.
