This is one of the first songs I heard from this genre, and it's still pretty high up there among my favorites. Heidi Parviainen is another Finnish lady that absolutely rocks her operatic skills. It's so hard to for me to sit still and listen to this song. It makes me want to jump up and do epic things. (Usually stuff I don't know how to do, like ride off into the sunset atop a black horse while keeping a host of enemies at bay with a deadly sword. Hmmm. No wonder I write about stuff like that.) In real life, the most epic thing I do while listening to this song is unload the dishwasher or sweep the floor.

But you could do it EPICALLY.

Man, what is it about Finnish metal queens? They are so amazing.

I guess I could do it epically. Maybe rock the broom the same way J-rock vocalists rock their mike stands? XD

If and when I ever decide to get singing lessons, I want a Finnish voice coach. Nuff said. (It would be an awesome excuse to go to Europe . . .)

Yeah, why not? I can rock me a broom. I always have that radio on at the bakery.

Just FYI though, my mom just happens to be a voice coach. Not Finnish, but she does specialize in opera and art song.

Do you get to choose your own music? If so, I am officially jealous. I'm stuck listening Taylor Swift songs, at both of my part time jobs. While I love the girl's hair and clothes, I get tired of her music very quickly.

Oh, that's right; you mentioned your mother is a voice coach before, didn't you? Totally slipped my mind. *rolls eyes at self* If you don't mind my asking, is it more fun or more annoying to have a mother that can tell you exactly how you're doing it wrong when you're singing along to your favorite songs?

Yep! In the back I do. The dining room has this "smooth jazz" crap that they play, but Back of House can do whatever we want, as long as we don't plug in headphones or play it too loud. One of my coworkers has gotten me listening to Wintersun--another metal band. It's a male vocalist, so more growling than singing, but still pretty cool. I mostly keep it tuned to a station that plays a lot of 80s music--Duran Duran, Michael Jackson, New Order, stuff like that.

And, uh, yeah... When I was in this local children's choir, mom used to come help with rehearsals sometimes, and we had to do these terrifying things called "memory solos" every three weeks or so to make sure we were learning our music. She coached me on that once, and we both agreed that it needed to never happen again.

I did play her some Nightwish though. She was very impressed with Tarja.

I wish they'd play mostly 80's music where I work. I'm not that crazy about it, probably because I was born just after the 80's ended, but I'll take anything over Justin Bieber. *shudders*

I guessed that getting coached by a family member would be awkward. My dad loves to remind me and my siblings that we have a ton of ridiculously talented musical relatives that we'll never hold a candle to. Well, actually, he never adds the "never hold a candle to" part, but us kids still feel sheepish afterwards.

I'd defy anyone to not be impressed with Tarja.
