This was one of my first Within Temptation songs, and it still reigns as one of my favorites among favorites. I listened to "Our Solemn Hour" copiously while studying for the SAT. Strangely, it was both strengthening and soothing for an overly-imaginative teenage girl who suddenly realized her future might not hold anything she really wanted. Now, I listen to it even more copiously while trying to make something out of my current WIP.
What exactly does the video symbolize? For me, it stresses that this world is one messed-up place, and the credit for that goes to people, to us. And we can't make things right all on our own. Not until we acquire the right focus.
What does the song say to you?
And here's a fan-made video featuring one of the few vampires I actually like. (Is it ironic that a girl who has always hated vampires came to be a huge fan of Selene, Gackt, and Hyde? Yes, it is. Is it just a coincidence that I envision the main heroine in my vampire-bashing novel as a teenage version of Kate Beckinsale? Nope.)
