On Getting Back into Normal Routine

I survived coming back to work thank GOODNESS. Six days off was exactly what I needed.
I'm also trying to set up a sort of schedule to kick myself back into writing regularly. Ideally, I want to pick up unfinished fanfics and complete them! We'll see if my muse cooperates. For right now, I think I'm going to just take 7pm-9pm each night to shuffle back and forth between cleaning, reading, and writing. See if that will help me do a bit of each of those things without just doomscrolling on my phone and feeling bad about it.
My reading goal this year is 130 books, last year I hit 118. We'll see how far I get for 2025!

Date: 2025-02-28 01:10 am (UTC)I've been doing okay with writing lately, but it can take awhile to get back into it if you've been away for awhile. Having it as part of your nightly routine sounds like a good way to start. Good luck!
And good lord, that reading goal. I managed *checking* 47 last year. That's about normal for me right now. How the crap did you read OVER 100??!

Yep, that's exactly what I've been dealing with for a while. But now I have time! that's the first step1

Audiobooks! I play them while I'm getting ready in the morning, on my commute to & from work, and when I clean or craft. This year I'm trying to read more paper books and less audiobooks, but we'll see. It's easy to just space out while crafting.

Ah yes, audiobooks. I generally only get into those when I'm taking a trip, and even then, I'm more likely to listen to music or standup comedy. So many of my coworkers swear by them though. The spacing out thing definitely is part of why I can't do them. My mind wanders and, if I'm at home, I'll fall asleep and have no idea where I stopped. I have that problem with podcasts, too.

Hehe see I have that problem with podcasts, but only podcasts. Not sure why. I do find it fascinating how we all have wildly different experiences with audiobooks, too. Sometimes I get hangups on detailed fantasy books (minus LotR which I've already read) because I get frustrated not being able to picture the place/people names.
