Father's Day Is Meh

I wish everyone who has a good relationship with their father is great holiday.
Won't go that way for me because we're estranged in pretty much every sense of the word except, y'know, the word itself. I reluctantly agreed to go to dinner along with two of my siblings, provided we're not eating out. No restaurants for a while unless it's takeout.
Anybody read any good books lately? I just started Honor Among Thieves and I absolutely love it. This is exactly the sort of sci-fi I adore, big concepts and wonder, but on a small, bite-sized scale as the hero/heroine deals with their inner struggles.

Date: 2020-06-22 11:44 am (UTC)I just finished N. K. Jemison's The City We Became and it's amazing! Five very special New Yorkers each get chosen to represent their respective boroughs (plus one more, but explaining that is kind of a spoiler) and save the city from an Eldritch creature trying to take over the world. It's over 400 pages, but it's nicely fast-paced.

Date: 2020-06-29 05:09 am (UTC)OMG that sounds amazing, I look forward to reading The City We Bacame too, then! BTW I have a rec, if you haven’t read Greg Rucka’s Guardian of the Whills yet? You’ll love it, methinks. It’s very timely somehow and deeply moved me.
