Yeah, some moron snuck in real guns, throwing stars, etc. with the intent to harm police officers. He was caught, no one was hurt. But all prop weapons were banned. I'll go more in-depth (with links and stuff) later.
Sorry nothing's coming through yet with applications and jobs and stuff, but yay for angel food cake! That was the cake I saw on Twitter, right? And there's something absurdly satisfying about showing something to the person who always seems to know more about everything. LOL. :)
Woohoo, yay for getting your review in print! Looking forward to reading it. :)
And yes, Wonder Woman just looks better and better the more I learn about it. My fave local theater (which is also very cheap) has showings this evening, so I may go if I'm not too exhausted from work.
Gahhh, I want to read your thoughts on Supernatural so bad. These last few weeks have been way too hectic, family wise. *shakes fist*
I've only read the intro so far and the fact that the author/editor did not get into fandom until adulthood fascinates me. Fandom has been part of my identity for as long as I can remember.
Really? Whoa, that is hard to wrap my brain around. Did the author mean fandom as in, intensely liking something, or intensely liking something with a community of people? Like you, I've always had intense fangirl obsessions, but until I got active on the internet, it was just family who I got to share it with.
This is gonna sound corny, but I only recently realized that both my parents are nerdy/geeky. Though my dad will never identify as one. They both did well in school and got degrees, with a combination of scholarships and working their way through, if I remember right. They both grew up on the original Star Trek series. My dad saw the first Star Wars movie as a teen and loved it. And some of my earliest memories are of my parents watching Star Trek: The Next Generation. So it hit me it was pretty inevitable I turned out geeky, too.
And I'm 100% with you, it's hard to picture life without our fandoms. They inspire and motivate us so much, help us through difficulties, and just enrich our lives in general. Like, what do people do with their time if they don't have that?
Agreed, moods have been all over the place with a lot of people at work, too. I don't know what's up with life right now, but everybody's taking a battering of some form. (I think my team having tough times is aggravating my own issues. It takes a lot of work to be firm but empathetic as a boss. Even at an introvert-friendly place where we're usually too busy to interact face to face. Add anxiety to the mix and it's doubled.) Will definitely take care of myself! I've been going easy and resting a lot since Comic-con.
