Jeez, but you go all out with icons--when I post graphix, I feel like I've done lots if I have, like, twenty at one time.

Definitely not complaining, by the way! I like the bleached-blond hair on him. Not sure why.

Oh, my Gackt icon posts are only big because I've been making icons of him like crazy for several months. Once I run out of all the icons I have stashed up, my posts will be much, much smaller. XD

I LOVE bleach-blonde hair on him. I tend to favor the tall, dark, and handsome cliche, but occasionally, a naturally dark-haired man blows me away with the bleached look. Gackt is definitely one of them. (Luscious--I mean, Lucius Malfoy and Legolas Greenleaf are also included in that category.)

Oh God yes, Legolas. That obsession has come and gone for me, but--YES.

Also, for Asian boys especially, when they bleach it beyond the point of looking even remotely natural, like stark white--I love that.

My Lego obsession is still going strong. Of course, my have a huge poster of him in my room for several years certainly helps . . .

haha--my entire college life was spent obsessing over LotR. I got all the extended versions of the DVDs, I taught myself Elvish, and spent one midterm week--along with roommate--in half-hour stints between studying and watching little segments of the movie at a time. And since I went to school from 2001 to 2005, I got to see the ENTIRE franchise happen from beginning to end, Oscar sweeps and all. The year Return of the King came out, we were meant to be home for summer already, but most of the student body stayed an extra week to go see the midnight premiere together. We owned the theater--it was awesome.

So when I say the "obsession" is over, I mean I do still love the movies and the books and all the characters, especially Leggy of course, I don't have the energy for the level of fandom I was in back then. It was *epic.*

You got to experience it all happening as it happened? Wow, that was epic. I didn't become a fan until 2008. My loss. (But at least I'm on board for The Hobbit.)

Well, now that you've explained it, yes, I do see that it would be a little difficult to keep that level of super obsession up for a long period of time. LOL!

:D I even read the Silmarillion. I'm not as hardcore into it as the Tolkienites who, like, invented Dungeons and Dragons (have played that a couple times also--Magic Missile ftw!) but I totally earned my nerd cred.

The Hobbit is going to be awesome--I can't wait to see all my college buddies freak out over FaceBook. We'll have to figure out a way to get together, or at least celebrate together.

I'll tell you what else though: That year the first movie came out was so... For me personally, I had a lot going on at once. This was 2001, and I was away from home for the first time and hadn't figured out yet that I wanted to be a writer, so I didn't know what I was supposed to do. Then September 11th happened, which was insane and scary by itself. And then my grandmother died that Christmas, which was also when the movie came out. For some reason our out-of-town family wasn't planning to be around that year, but when grandma died, they all came in anyway. And because this is how a lot of us cope with hard situations, we all went to the movies--the whole clan. So it's special to me for many reasons.

I'm so impressed that you learned Elvish. I want to so badly, but it's too much work by myself. So I'm waiting to meet some sweet, nerdy guy willing to teach me . . . XD

I know! I've been following every snippet of Hobbit-related news I can find. I also mean to make an elven cloak to wear when I go see it. I'm hoping to do so at midnight of the first airing. We'll see how that works out.

It's so awesome how a fandom can bring friends and family together during difficulties, isn't it?
