Well Louis is a brunette, so I'm not sure what you mean by that, but yeah, there are many, many other stories about vampires, in France and elsewhere.
IMO, The Vampire Lestat is better. Just because I like Lestat as a character better. But that will definitely give a sense of the scope of cultures and time periods she's covered. Anyways--yeah, don't let it stop you.
