Dear Supernatural Writing Staff
You clearly are very desperate to launch a spin-off series. What is this, the third time you've introduced a bunch of fresh young faces in the hope that fans will latch onto them? I remember the werewolf kids and the mini-shorts hunter girl, but barely, because they were NOT compelling at all. This week's trial protagonist was much better, I'll grant you that--but still? You want to recreate the same addictive dynamic that Sam and Dean bring to the show? You need actors that can carry the same weight as Jared and Jensen.
Maybe, if you hadn't killed Kevin off, he could have starred in his own rogue prophet series. The fandom already loves Osric Chau to bits. Haven't you noticed how great he is on Twitter? Speaking of greatness and Twitter, Misha could easily hold his own in a Castiel-focused spin-off. What if you set the timeline as pre-Team Free Will, showing all the events that molded Castiel into the angel that placed his bets on the Winchesters? What if you threw Gabriel and Balthazar into the mix? I'll bet the fangirls would go wild.
Ranting and dreaming aside, next week's episode looks awesome. :)
ETA: Yikes, on second thought, maybe I shouldn't be so harsh. Still . . . it's frustrating. I felt like I was watching The Vampire Diaries set in the Supernatural universe, and I'm really not into that show at all.

I did hear about this spin-off idea, and had a good laugh. Way to strike while the iron's hot, CW. I mean, the show's been on for 9 years (jeez, I feel old. I remember when it first premiered.) and fans have been jumping ship pretty rapidly these last few seasons. Anyway, describing it as "The Vampire Diaries in the Supernatural universe" sounds PAINFUL.

LOL, yeah. My gut is telling me they know this edition of Supernatural is on its last legs, and they don't want to let this source of income go (understandably), so they want to reinvent it with younger (and cheaper) actors. Which is pretty funny, considering that, so long as the writing is good, fans would still watch even when the main cast has passed sixty. At least, I still would. :)

It also kills me that you described it as The Vampire Diaries in Supernatural Land, when even that show isn't as popular as it was when it first premiered. (I jumped ship on TVD a couple years ago.) I remember watching a lot of the CW shows (and even back when it was The WB). Now I don't watch any, and I'm not sure if it's because I "aged out" or if their programming just sucks now.

Yeah, I've been assuming that for a while. (Which reminds me, I need to make good on a promise to a friend and start Smallville at some point.)

A ton of their shows seem to be targeting the teen demographic, so it's possible it's a mix of both.

Overall, I think I watched 15 minutes of the episode, the rest was skipping and searching for stuff I thought I could watch without 2nd hand embarrasement.
I wish they would have done like TVD did with the Originals, and this is to move the Angel and Demon stuff to the spin-off. This would give SPN time and space to breath and remember what it`s surposed to be about.
I know, 100%, that I`m not going to watch, or care about, the spin-of. (IF it goes on air at all)

LOL, I should've done that! Probably would have been more fun that way.

Yep. It's a shame, too. I really like your idea of jumping the Angel/Demon dynamic over to a spin-off.

Also, just because I don't see you here too much anymore... *waves maniacally*

Hannibal first appealed to me because it's, well, Hannibal. i thought Mads wouldn't do the Anthony-Hopkins-Hannibal justice but he did. he's taken the character and made it his own. i love it. and yeah, all the psycho killings, lololol.

Oh, yes, Mads has absolutely owned as Hannibal. What do you think of Hugh Dancy as Will Graham? (I might be a little in love with him. Okay, maybe crazy about him. Maybe.)

and, lol, i had no idea he was English, so when i finally watched one of his interviews and heard his English accent, i was blown away because his American accent is so good that i had no idea it was an accent at all.
