*Twiddles Thumbs*

Don't mind me, I'm just sitting here, impatiently waiting for my Hydra CD to come in the mail. YouTube is not enough right now. I kinda miss the old style Within Temptation. "Truth Beneath the Rose" and "Hand of Sorrow" and "Ice Queen" are the first things that strike me when I think of my favorite band. But at the same time, I love how their current musical style is a strong tribute to the rock style of the 80's. I want to be able to write books in multiple genres, so I guess I can't blame them for experimenting with different styles, too. :)

And don't get me started on G's upcoming single. I'm super excited, but more and more, I'm worried I'll be a little disappointed. For me (and quite a few other fans), his masterpiece will always be Last Song. But since G himself wants this song to carry his memory, to be his defining song, in a way . . . I don't know. I don't know. I think, as we say on Tumblr, I have too many feelz. (Yes, that's feelz with the z. It's more emotive. LOL.)

To bring up the subject of writing again, I'm not happy where I'm at with my main WIP. The story has gotten ridiculously long and complex, and I originally decided to split it into two books. But there's just too much material. I'm afraid I'm looking at a trilogy--a very disjointed trilogy that's taken almost four years of my life, on and off. And I feel like it'll take four more years to get it up to snuff. But I'm determined to try to finish it this year, if only so I can move on to another project. It's just not easy to do so while juggling two jobs.

Interestingly, this recurring customer at work, whom I always forget, always remembers me and asks about my writing. (Actually, there may be more than one. Like I say, I forget them easily.) I don't know whether to call that sweet or scary. I can't quite read her, so I have no idea how to react, and I just smile and say thanks. I don't like feeling completely unable to gauge people, because it makes me feel vulnerable. Ah, well.

I haven't known the band as long as you, but I do like some of the older songs better. My favorite album happens to be The Unforgiving . I love Shot in the Dark. One of my favorites outside that album is The Cross.
The new one, I really like Edge of the World.

I love The Unforgiving (just bought it, finally!), and Shot in the Dark is one of my favorites. (Can't drive while I'm listening to it, though--makes me want to speed! LOL.)

Obviously, I'm not as familiar with WT as you are--what with the YEAR OF ALL THE MUSICS last year, I'm trying not to get too crazy about new stuff anyway--but just going by the singles I've heard so far (the stuff I've seen on YouTube) it's a little...something. I can't put my finger on what's different, exactly. I mean, it's still symphonic metal, but...something.

I always liked it when people asked about my writing over the counter. It's nice, just knowing someone out there cares/remembers to ask. It's just polite, really--something to start a conversation--but I always liked that.

If you want a beta for the epic, do let me know. :) I'm useless with historical/research-related stuff, but I do okay with story structure and characterizations.

And good luck!

Yeah. It's like they've invented a new sub-sub-genre, if there is such a thing. :)

I try to remind myself that, but it really freaks me out when a person remembers I'm a writer, when I can't even remember said person's face. LOL.

Ooo, thank you, I'd love it if you beta'd for me! Once I'm finished with this draft, I'll let you know. With regard to research, I actually didn't do much; I'm just going on what I know from reading books written by Victorians. I'd really like to know what you think of the vampire characters especially, since you're more of a fan of them than I am. :)

Thanks again, I really appreciate it! This made my day. :D

I guess I'm used to it? It's my Mom's fault, in a weird way. She's very involved in the classical music community, so I've had people I barely recognize talk to me and ask about my life pretty much since I could talk--since everyone knows her, and she talks a *lot,* they know me by extension. Even people who have never met me before ask how my writing's going because of that. *shrug* It is what it is.

OH! Vampires! I do know my vampires. :) Okay, I'm excited now. heee!

Wow, I'd say you definitely are used to it!

Okay, I'm excited now. heee!

Yay! Now off I got to make myself write. (If I don't get on tumblr first.)

I enjoy Hydra a lot xD I'm not big of a fan and listen to them just on occasions but this album was on loop for a few days xD

He might wish for the song to be the one but it's not really up to him. I don't think it would be his 'legacy' to me at least.

Oh, I had no idea you're writing a book :)

[identity profile] gothrockrulz.livejournal.com 2014-02-11 09:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Ooooo, that's high praise, indeed! Makes me feel very happy. :)

That's kinda how I feel, too. I mean, I know all artists have one particular piece that they feel is most special to them, and they want everyone to feel about it as they do. But still . . . fans love what they love, what resonates with them the most. That isn't always the pieces the artist intended.

Yes, I'm working on a book, though it's tough to focus. Gonna finish it someday. :)

Exactly. It can mean a lot to him but all of us experienced different things so we won't feel the same while listening to his song[s].

Let us know when you finish :)

Sure, I'll definitely post when I feel it's done. I'll be shouting from the rooftops! :D
