I am a huge fan of the horrifically awesome TV show "Hannibal." *ducks pitchforks* Have been so ever since a tumblr friend spammed GIFs, and I realized that Mads Mikkelsen (AKA, one of my mom's fave actors) plays the famed cannibal.

I have a lot of thoughts on the subject, but while working through the comments in Cleolinda's hysterical recap series, all I can think of is this thread. BRB, I'm just going to go flail for a few solid hours.

Ahahaha I feel like I'm watching one after another of my fannish friends on lj fall for this show. I haven't seen it, but the screencaps are utterly gorgeous. The lighting, the costuming, the everything.

Really? Do people hate the show? I've only seen a huge fanbase on tumblr though, so I may be missing the haters. Honestly, I think the idea of the show, and the characters, is interesting. Unfortunately, I get sick really quickly watching stuff like that >_

I'm longing for season 2 already, and season 1 only just ended! Lots of people I know like Hannibal, it's nothing to be ashamed of!

*high five* I'm not crazy over that moniker, either, catchy though it is. I'm trying to think up an alternative that's similar. Maybe Grahamcrackers? (I saw the name Will Grahamcracker somewhere on the internet, and it stuck in my head.)

It's a very well-made show, with a ton of ZOMG-NO-FREAKING-WAY moments. As you probably know, it's very disturbing and gory, so if you're sensitive and/or have a photographic memory, proceed with caution. Otherwise, it is utterly addictive.

AMEN. In terms of cinematography, it's the most gorgeous, ethereal TV show I've ever seen. I think that's a deliberate counterbalance to all the gore and stuff.

It seems everybody's tumblr dash has been taken over, except mine. Most of the people I follow are too busy with other things. LOL.

I haven't encountered any haters, just people who are genuinely disturbed by the content, and are at a loss to understand how other people can still like the show. And that's okay. Like you, some people just can't watch it, and so the rest of us that can will just fill you in on all the cool character stuff. :) (I'll freely admit, I nearly got sick during a few episodes myself, and there are scenes that I will never, ever watch again.)

I'm not so much ashamed, as I am bracing for genuine concern. Not everybody can stomach something that graphic, which I can understand. There were several scenes I had to look away from just to keep my lunch down.
