Gah, I keep trying to comment on this ONE VIDEO and stupid LJ won't let me!!

Anyways--YES! AWESOME! I found it and favorited also. Heee! I love Floor with them. Especially on that song. I hope she sticks around. I don't want to jinx it, but seriously.

That pipe is painfully out of tune, but whatever...

I couldn't have said it better. A lot of us would love a super awesome high-quality live DVD with her vocals, and she'll have to stay for that to happen, I think. (I'll get every Nightwish live DVD I can get my hands on. Eventually.) I like Floor better than Anette, though, like you, I still maintain she had her good moments, whatever the Tarja-or-no-one crowd says.

Also, your icon reminds me that I have to get my hands on a copy of the second Game of Thrones book. The first one was enthralling, if a bit crude compared to Tolkien. Completely understand your Jon Snow crush. ;)

Heh--yeah, they're all on my list too. In a perfect world, they'd put a live something-or-other together for this tour, with Floor and Anette both on vocals--obviously they have a professional videographer around somewhere, to give us that one video. (And apparently Tuomas has a teleporter? That's a seriously weird moment.)

Y'know, I liked Anette a lot more when I read she has a background in musical theater--explains a *lot* about her style. There's a right and wrong way to belt, and some of the older songs were a bit tough for her, but Imaginaerum is damn near perfect.

Floor, on the other hand, can do both. (Have you heard her cover of Heart's "Alone?" Wow. I stumbled across it on YouTube the other day. I seriously got chills!)

And DUDE, you've been reading Game of Thrones?? Yay! Jon Snow is awesome. :D I need to get the second one too.

Oh, yes, we need a DVD with both of them! I saw that funny teleporter comment, too. Really want to know what was going on there.

Imaginaerum is damn near perfect.

Agreed. Never going to get tired of that album. (As if anyone could get tired of anything Nightwish . . .)

Oh. Em. Gee. Floor's cover of "Alone" is freaking amazing! Just, wow. She could give Amy Lee a run for her money in the belting department.

Oh, I think she loads better than Amy Lee live--she strains way too much, almost never gets out of chest voice.

While we're on the subject though, I do have roughly $20 worth left on my Amazon gift cards to spend, and I'm thinking I need some Evanescence. I'm torn between either The Open Door or the self-titled one. Both meet my criteria of "must like at least three songs" that I set before buying an album, but I don't really want both right now--at least not more than the other things on the List. Which do you think is better?

[identity profile] gothrockrulz.livejournal.com 2013-01-06 06:01 am (UTC)(link)
You're right; live, poor Amy can't compare. She almost always looks and sounds exhausted. I always think of Amy's voice as I hear it recorded at its best.

Ow, that's a really tough choice. I love all Evanescence's albums equally. If I were to rate each song on each album on a scale of 1 to 5, I'd give The Open Door 6 5-star songs, and the self-titled album 3. So, if you go by sheer numbers, I'd say The Open Door is the better of the two. But on the other hand, Evanescence has "The Change," and that just might be my favorite song of all, if I had to choose one.

She almost always looks and sounds exhausted. I think it's because she jumps around so much. Gets you out of breath.

Hmm. Okay, cool. I started leaning toward The Open Door when I heard "Sweet Sacrifice," except for the fact that I love "My Heart Is Broken" so, so much. Ah, maybe I'll just see which one's cheaper. Thanks! :)

This has been your mandatory "I was actually on this gig and Floor is as amazing live as on video" comment. You're welcome.

OH MY GOSH. I've seen Nightwish live, but not in a huge awesome venue like that. O.O I can't even imagine . . .

And here's the thank you that you anticipated. ;)
