In Which I Confess My Wicked-ness . . . .

Last week, I went to see a performance of "Wicked" with my real life BFF. I wasn't sure I would like it, because I'd already created my own visual idea of how events should unfold, from listening to the soundtrack of the original Broadway cast, and I thought I'd be disappointed with the actual performance.

I wasn't disappointed. It was, hands down, one of the most awesome things I'd ever seen. I'm so glad she got me hooked on "Wicked". (Amusingly, our friendship is a lot like that of Elphaba and Galinda--minus a Fiyero to make things complicated. We haven't met a guy to fight over. Yet.)

It's hard to choose which songs to prefer above the others, but if I was forced at gunpoint to choose just four, it would be these four.

For some reason, I've got a little voice in my head nagging me to write a lyrics to this tune from Genesis Rhapsodos' POV, and call it "The Goddess and I." And I have no idea where that idea came from.

Do I listen to "Defying Gravity" often when I feel like I need something to encourage me and motivate me? Yes. Yes, I do. :)

There really are no words to describe how "No Good Deed" affects me, so I'll just let the song speak for itself.

I'm so glad you enjoyed the show! I was lucky enough to see Wicked years ago. It's a lovely show with fantastic music and a compelling story - it's so rare to have a musical focus on two female characters and their friendship, but I think that's what makes the show so good. And it's quite appropriate that you got to see it with your bff. ♥

Ahck, LJ failed to notify me about this entry too!

Anyway, I still haven't seen the musical! I tried to read the book, but I didn't find it very interesting. However, I hear the musical is different and better, so I look forward to it :)

I read the book a few years ago and from what I could remember, I didn't like it after I finished the last page. (I havr to finish books, no matter how atrocious). I wish our witch could have had a better ending....
