Yeah, that was the most shocking part of it. This guy is an amateur, clearly, but he's come the closest to actually killing Hannibal. And all it was took was Will needing a "favor." How'd he even know he'd be at the pool that day?
Interesting side-note: Hannibal's near-death experience in this episode is a gender-swapped version of all those horror tropes I was talking about in my other post. He gets stripped down, humiliated, and has to have the big, strong FBI agent come rescue him. That's par for the course for most female characters in your usual horror story, particularly with serial killers. That's . . . interesting, considering the opening half of the same episode was all about Beverly and how much it sucks that she's gone now.
And yep, Mason Verger--that's what I've heard. Although I still don't really know who that is. (You do know who Pitt is, right?)
