It sounded like they were actually not mmmmm.... operating entirely legally, yea. I don't know how true these claims are, but I've been under the impression that they are. It seems that they were actually supporting the piracy on their website (it did give them a large amount of profit, after all, so I can understand that) rather than really trying to remove it.
